2021 RODNEY WICHERN CAMP

We are hosting the Rodney Wichern Camp in honor of the 20th Year Anniversary of Rodney Wichern's passing and the contributions he made to the wrestling community.  

Rodney Wichern was awarded the first MNUSA coach of the year award in 1990 when his team won state.  This award today is now called the "Rodney Wichern" MNUSA Coach of the Year in his honor.  Rodney, a Minneapolis native himself, coached for 25 years at Minneapolis Wrestling Club and Powderhorn Park and was instrumental in many of its youth's wrestling success.  He coached 100's of City Champions and his teams won multiple City Titles along with several State Placewinners, State Champions, and National Champions.   This foundation at the youth level led several kids he coached to go on to win multiple High School State Titles for Minneapolis and other metro schools.  

In honor of Rodney Wichern, the camp instructors will be wrestlers that were once coached by Rodney.

This one-day camp for K thru 12th graders will be structured so that wrestlers will learn fundamental and advanced techniques within the sport, and how to drill and wrestle in specific situations.  Wrestlers do not need to be advanced level.  This camp is for all skill levels that are looking to improve and outwork their competition.  Our goal is to give your child every opportunity to be successful on and off the mat.
